Although high-tech innovations will play an increasingly larger role in air traffic management (ATM), air traffic controllers will retain a central position of operational authority; as a result, new methods will be required to ensure safe, effective interactions between humans and technology, the U.K. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says.
The group’s report says inadequate funding has affected staffing, facilities and equipment.
