January 17, 2012, Alexandria, VA — The Flight Safety Foundation announced today that the Board of Governors had unanimously elected Eurocontrol Director General David McMillan as the new FSF Chair-Elect, to take over as Chair in October 2012.
“David will be the first non-American in over 50 years to lead our Board, and we’re thrilled to have him take the reins,” said Lynn Brubaker, current Chair of the Board.
“I’ve known and admired David for years, and look forward to a close working relationship to further enhance the outstanding record in aviation safety around the globe,” said Bill Voss, President & CEO of the Flight Safety Foundation.
“I am humbled and honored to accept this role,” said McMillan, “and I ask everyone with an interest in aviation safety to consider contributing through offering their time, their talent and expertise – or through a financial contribution to the important work of the Flight Safety Foundation.” McMillan is currently the Director General of Eurocontrol, a role he will continue until the end of 2012. Prior to his time there, Mr. McMillan was the Director General Civil Aviation at the UK Department of Transport and served in the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office as a diplomat in various postings.
