KEYNOTE ADDRESS U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Vice Chairman Bruce Landsberg, a noted business and general aviation safety advocate, will be the keynote speaker for Flight Safety Foundation’s 66th Business Aviation Safety Summit (BASS). A 7,000-hour pilot, educator, writer, and industry executive, he will bring a unique perspective to BASS 2021.

SESSION 1:  BUSINESS AVIATION ACCIDENT TRENDS – CAN WE IMPROVE?  The NTSB will present on their investigation and report of the departure from controlled flight accident that occurred at Teterboro Airport in 2017. They will share lessons learned and provide some insight on how they identified safety issues as a result of this accident investigation. Also, FSF staff will briefly touch on business aviation accident trends and look at if improvements to a stable system are possible.

SESSION 3:  OPERATOR EXPERIENCE – MANAGING A CRISIS SITUATION    Learn about inflight crisis situations from the crews who experienced them. The session moderator will lead the group through a discussion beginning with a description of the inflight emergency, and how the crew responded. They will look at how training and experience played a part in the outcome, strategies for crew cohesion and mission execution, and more.

SESSION 4:  MEDICAL REGULATORY UPDATES   Top medical experts will discuss topics that include new processes introduced as a result of the ICAO Council’s Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART) process, what can be expected as vaccines are rolled out worldwide, international quarantine requirements, evidence of latest variants in the virus, the use of medical certificates and vaccine passports, and other medical regulatory issues.
